And this was only half of them!

CropSharers had a change of scene this time round, and visited an orchard in Reach that Farmer Paul planted around 10 years ago. The trees were heaving with apples! Varieties included Spartan and an unidentified type of Laxton. Both very tasty eating apples!

We used all sorts of tactics to get at the crop. Of course we had a lot of fun climbing up the trees, but also deployed stepladders and a litter picker!

Errr aren’t you meant to climb UP the tree….?

Litter picker repurposed as apple picker!

Karen came very prepared!

Gorgeous Laxton apples

Lunch was amazing as ever, thanks to Paul and Jo for letting us use their gorgeous kitchen and garden at lunchtime.

We’re planning to donate plenty of apples to local charities, and more plans up our sleeves, so watch this space to find out the fate of the apples.
