Butterflies everywhere on the farm recently! Here’s a gang of small tortoiseshells having a party on a thistle

We’ve really noticed how the butterflies have been out and about on the farm recently – they love the thistles, nettles and other weeds growing next to the fields – one of the reasons why organic farms are so important for biodiversity.

And as it’s time for the annual Big Butterfly Count we thought we’d show you some of the specimen Axel, one of our roving farm paparazzi has managed to snap during the last couple of farm days. Check out the gallery below and let us know if we’ve made any mistakes IDing any of them!

Also, why not take part in the Big Butterfly Count yourself? It’s on until 9th of August, only takes 15 minutes and you can do it from the comfort of your own garden – or why not combine it with a nice walk through the countryside?

And of course we got on with farm work- weeding and planting- as June is really a busy month when it comes to keeping on top of weeds and planting out enough veg to last us through the winter.

And we were up to our usual summer circus tricks with Dave and Lola at lunchtime too! Feeling 10 ft tall!
